Are Extensions Right for You?
During our consultation, we’ll go beyond discussing grams, pricing, and appointments. We’ll also cover important factors like your lifestyle, budget, commitment level, and hair health to ensure extensions are the best fit for you.
-
Lifestyle: Your daily routine helps determine the best method for you. We’ll assess whether a weft or another type of extension suits your lifestyle. For example, if you have fine hair, wefts may feel lightweight but aren’t always ideal for everyone. Are you a busy mom, college student, active person, or do you often wear your hair up? These factors play a big role in the decision.
-
Budget: Extensions require scheduled maintenance, which is crucial for the long-term health of your hair. We’ll discuss what fits into your budget while keeping your hair in its best condition.
-
Commitment: Extensions require daily care, including washing, styling, sleeping, and brushing. We’ll explore how these changes might affect your routine, as they can be more time-consuming.
-
Health: Believe it or not, your hair health matters. If you have conditions like alopecia or significant hair loss, extensions might not be the right option until your hair regains strength.

Are Hair Extensions Damaging?
When applied and maintained properly by a skilled stylist, hair extensions are not damaging. Choosing the right stylist is crucial to ensure the extensions suit your hair type and are installed with care. Following the recommended maintenance and aftercare routine will help keep your natural hair healthy and strong while wearing extensions.
How Long Do They Last?
The lifespan of hair extensions depends on the method and how well they’re maintained. On average, extensions can last between 6-12 months before needing replacement. With proper care the high-quality extensions can be reused for several months.
How Often Is Maintenance?
Maintenance for hair extensions is typically required every 4-8 weeks, depend how fast your natural hair grows or how you feel them. Regular appointments help ensure the extensions remain securely in place, keep your hair healthy, and maintain a seamless look.

Things to Consider
Commitment:
Hair extensions require regular maintenance and upkeep to ensure they remain in top condition. Be prepared for follow-up appointments and proper at-home care to maintain the health and longevity of your extensions.
Height:
Consider how the length of your extensions will complement your height and overall look. Longer extensions may create a dramatic effect, while shorter lengths can offer a more natural appearance. It’s important to choose a length that enhances your natural proportions.
Lifestyle:
Your daily routine plays a significant role in choosing the right type of extensions. If you lead an active lifestyle, you’ll want extensions that can withstand regular exercise, frequent washing, and styling. Some types of extensions may require more maintenance or be better suited for specific activities.
Financial:
Investing in quality hair extensions is important for achieving the best results. Consider the initial cost, as well as the ongoing expenses for maintenance, products, and potential adjustments. Ensure that the investment aligns with your budget and long-term beauty goals.
Goals:
What are you hoping to achieve with hair extensions? Whether it’s adding length, volume, or a pop of color, clearly defining your goals will help you and your stylist choose the best type of extensions to meet your needs and expectations.

At Home Care
To maximize the lifespan of your new hair extensions, it is crucial to follow proper aftercare procedures. Here are some important guidelines:
Sleeping:
-
Avoid sleeping with your hair down, as this can cause friction, leading to split ends and breakage.
-
Do not sleep with wet hair, as it can result in matting. Instead, loosely bun your hair using a big scrunchie, and consider using a satin pillowcase for its gentle texture.
-
Prior to bedtime, apply oil to the ends of your hair for added nourishment.
Styling & Brushing:
-
Always use a heat protectant before using hot tools or blow dryers on your extensions.
-
Opt for a board bristle brush or paddle brush to gently detangle your hair, starting from mid-length to ends, and gradually working your way up.
-
Partially air-drying your hair is acceptable, but make sure to blow dry the attachment points to prevent bacterial growth or molding.
-
If you notice a weft coming undone, contact me immediately for prompt attention.
Products:
-
Use only professional hair care products, as some drugstore options may contain ingredients like parabens and waxes that can build up and degrade the hair quality prematurely.
-
Remember that your extensions are made of 100% human hair, and they have undergone a quality process at the factory. It is essential to maintain them properly to keep them looking their best.
-
Avoid applying conditioner directly at the point of attachment, as it can cause the bead to slide out.
By following these at-home care tips, you can ensure the longevity and beauty of your hair extensions.
